Embassies and Consulates
It is a commonly held belief that if a traveller gets into medical difficulties overseas, the embassy or consulate will solve the problem.
In most cases they are willing to help but are limited in what they can actually do.
It is the traveller's responsibility to ensure that they have adequate insurance in the event of illness or injury overseas.
They will liaise with your family and the medical insurer, but they are unable to pay for any treatment.
Where there is no insurance in place and the Embassy is unable to help to resolve difficult situations, Goldfinch can provide advice and assistance to the family.
Should travel arrangements need to be made to ensure a safe journey home with a medical escort, Goldfinch has procedures in place to facilitate this and take the strain from other parties.
